China envisions stronger nation, better world

The Chinese Dream is something that has caught the global attention and this catch-phrase has become a subject of global debate. In fact, the Chinese Dream, which figured in a more pronounced and prominent manner after the present team of leaders headed by President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Li Keqiang, took over power in Beijing earlier this year. While Chinese people seem to be elated with the proposition and vision that President Xi and his new team of leadership has proposed, the world is eagerly waiting to know what exactly the Chinese Dream is all about and what impact it will have on the global arena.
In fact, the China dream is nothing new but continuation of China’s pursuit of peace, prosperity and new global order that Beijing has been advocating for years. But this vision and dream had not been pronounced as strongly in the past as it has done at present. In the past, China was more occupied with its internal affairs that included modernization and opening launched with the objective of stimulating domestic growth and development as well as modernizing the country. But its dream to revive its glorious past and present itself as a global power existed in its agenda.  This is a lofty and wonderful goal received more prominence and priority after China introduced reforms and opening up in 1978.
With the opening up and reforms first initiated by Deng Xiaoping, China has marched vigorously ahead on the path and direction of progress and prosperity. As a result, China has already emerged as the world’s second largest economy enabling itself to uplift hundreds of millions people from utter poverty.  China’s success of reducing poverty has been wholeheartedly appreciated by the international community and institution including the World Bank. In fact the stunning success and economic miracle China has achieved in the period of just two-plus decades was virtually impossible for any other country in the world. That is to say none of the countries has achieved such a speedy and quality development and progress in such a short span of time in the past.
So far as Chinese dream is concerned, it is the long-term vision of China’s present leadership to develop China as the strongest and most prosperous country in the world while ensuring quality and dignified life of its people at home. Some people view the China Dream as an individual values and interests, which is a biased and prejudiced view against the people, the government and its present leadership. The China Dream is directly related to the collective interests of all Chinese people and represents the people's dreams.
The Chinese dream is a dream to translate the longing of Chinese people for happy, better and dignified life as well as a strong and modern country into reality. It is with this determination the present Chinese leadership is working and has laid out a grand vision for China’s blueprint for a prosperous, strong and modern country at home and also a plan to play its decisive role in the international arena for a better, safer and peaceful world. It is a dream for better future and more positive future and also a vision to lead the people to a better standard of life.
Sustainable development is yet another goal and vision of the present leadership. China has so far the highest economic growth but the recent days have seen a decline in the growth rate. This has concerned the Chinese and other responsible authorities and people. This decline in growth rate has relation with the present global economic crisis and recession. But this is anathema to sustainable development China has envisioned. The Chinese dream aims at ensuring sustainable development in the country. But China seems to be more concerned with the growing environmental degradation, climate change and ecological catastrophe that the world has seen, which is attributed to growing imbalance between development and environment and utter neglect to ecology and nature while carrying out development activities. Thus, China wants to maintain perfect balance between nature and human activities and between environment and development. This has what Chinese dream also aims to achieve.
